When you shop through easyfundraising, we’re awarded a commission by the retailer as a ‘thank you’ for referring you to them. We then turn that commission into a donation for your good cause. After you make a purchase, the donation shows as ‘Pending’ while the retailer checks whether we’re eligible for the commission. If they award the commission to another source, or decide the purchase doesn’t qualify, your donation may be declined.
Here are the most common reasons this can happen:
The commission was awarded to another source
If you visited another website (like a cashback site or comparison tool) or clicked a sponsored result on a search engine (usually the top results), the commission may have gone to that site instead of easyfundraising.
The retailer couldn’t track your visit from easyfundraising
If tracking is blocked by your browser settings, disabled cookies, or ad blockers, the retailer won’t know you came via easyfundraising and won’t award the commission. Always accept cookies on retailer websites to help ensure your donation tracks correctly.
Retailer terms weren’t followed
Some retailers exclude certain products, categories, or require specific conditions for a donation to be eligible. For example, donations may not apply to gift cards or renewals. You can find these details on each retailer’s easyfundraising page.
An unauthorised voucher code was used
If you use a discount code not listed on easyfundraising, the retailer may cancel the donation. Stick to voucher codes we display to make sure your purchase qualifies.
If you’re unsure why your donation was declined, we’re happy to help. Just go to your Donation History, click the arrow next to the donation amount, and on the next page select Query this donation. Fill in the details requested, and our Support team will investigate for you.
