There are two reasons why a donation may not be ready for payment:
1) We haven't received the funds from the brand
When a supporter shops through easyfundraising, the retailer notifies us that a donation has been generated. At this stage, it’s marked as Pending. The retailer then checks that the order is eligible for a donation. Once confirmed, the status will change to Confirmed.
FAQ: How long should a donation be pending?
Even after a donation is Confirmed, there can be a delay before we receive the funds. During this time, it will show in your cause transaction summary as Not ready for payment. The delay varies depending on the retailer and type of purchase. Here are some typical examples:
Donation Type | Time | Reason |
Travel (hotels, flights, trains) | Up to 90 days after returning from the trip | To allow time for cancellations or changes to the booking. |
Financial products (insurance, phone contracts) | Up to 180 days after contract starts | Time needed for credit/fraud checks or setup |
Christmas gifts | 90 days after returns period ends | To allow for extended Christmas returns |
Groceries | Up to 6 months | Grocery retailers typically take longer |
Everything else | Around 90 days | Most brands follow a standard 90-day period |
Please note that donations from referred causes also follow these rules.
2) The donation was paid during the cut-off period
We apply a cut-off around two weeks before each Donation Day to give time for processing. Donations confirmed after this date will roll over and be paid on the next Donation Day.
