There are four main reasons why a donation may not be ready for payment:
- The donation is pending
- We haven't received the donation from the brand
- The donation was paid during the cut-off period
- The donation comes from a referred cause
The donation is pending
easyfundraising generates donations by recommending brands to our users. When you visit one of our recommended brands and make a purchase, we are awarded commission for sending you to them. This commission is then passed onto your cause in the form of a donation.
When a purchase is made, the donation will be given a status of Pending which means we have received notification of the donation from the brand you made the purchase with. The brand will then check the donation to ensure that everything is correct, and the order wasn't cancelled or returned.
The status will change to Confirmed once the brand has completed this check and confirms their intent to pay the donation.
We haven't received the donation from the brand
Often, there is a delay between the donation being switching to Confirmed and the brand sending us the donation. While we wait for those funds to come through, the donation is listed as Not ready for payment.
The amount of time it takes for the brand to send us the funds can differ depending on who you shopped with and what was purchased. It can take several weeks and in some cases months depending on the returns and/or validation period in place from the brand. Below are some examples:

| Christmas gifts | 90 days after the returns policy has concluded | Most brands offer an extended returns policy around Christmastime. Donations are sent to us 90 days after this policy ends in case the item is returned |
| Groceries | Up to 6 months | Grocery brands typically take longer than most to send us donations |
| Everything else | Approximately 90 days | Most brands send us donations roughly 90 days after the purchase was made |
The donation was paid during the cut-off period
Two weeks before each donation day, we implement a donation cut-off. This allows our team to process all the donations that have come through and ensure everything goes smoothly. If you earned a donation after this cut-off date, then it will not be Available for payment until the following Donation Day.

The donation comes from a referred cause
When you refer a cause to easyfundraising, you will earn 20% of any donations they raise. These donations follow the same rules outlined above. Once we receive the commission from the brand that was shopped with, we'll mark the donation as Available for payment.
